My Birthday, Lights, Curtains and Kitchen

We spent a few days in Perth at the start of April as Phill had training, so we got to stay at the Sheraton (with work paying!) which was very nice. We had two birthday lunches with family, plus Dan and Amberley had their house/bbq warming party with the Okely side that weekend. I spent some time visiting my boss at ECU (I'm tutoring online with them)and my old work people, plus shopping with mum for curtains and dresses for upcoming weddings! :)

My birthday was great, I was excited to received 2 art books from Kath, a mini purse pen that replaces the one I  lost last year from Phill, plus a few more books and bits and pieces from the rest of the family - I’m a lucky girl!

We came home to find that Simon (electrician) and Stuart (comms tech) had come to visit and installed our new lights and extra phone extension while we were away (Yes, I gave them the keys lol!). So have new lights up in our front rooms the old one were artistically cracked and wonky ones. We put up new curtains in the lounge room and have now had our existing curtain tracks repaired and have put up curtains in our bedroom too.

Our latest project (now the curtains are up in the living areas) is the kitchen. Phill attacked it last night and it now all pulled out. The cupboard were screwed, stapled and glues together so so much for giving away the old bits of the kitchen!! We are picking up the 1st instalment of our new kitchen from Bunnings and natural gas had been connected (se now have quite a bit of red dirt rather than lawn out the front!) We also have all our crockery and stuff out on the lounge room floor. Thankfully the dishwasher can fit in the laundry so we don’t have to wash dishes! After much thought we ended up going for the 900mm upright oven, and it arrived last weekend.

So we are now working on the kitchen and can't wait for Bunnings to open at 12pm today.

Magic Eraser

As our new home is actually 16 years old, I've been trying to clean off all the grunge from around the tap, on cupboard door handles, etc. Magic Eraser works!! (Chux should be paying me for this I think!)

What a week

We moved house on Saturday (big thanks to everyone for helping). On Sunday, I played for both morning services, Phill cleaned Lewis St, and then we set up for the Wild West Murder Mystery Dinner Party at the Next Level (KBC young adults). Monday saw the start of the Uni semester (I'm tutoring 2 units). Wednesday we had home group at our house and tonight we are picking up Mum and Dad Okely from the train as they are visiting for the long weekend.

Thankfully our phone and internet were fine, nothing was broken in the move and things are slowly getting unpacked. I'm so looking forward to the last room being carpeted as it is our study and my craft/sewing area also.

Hope you all are going well.

Love Melissa

Moving Day approaches

After being spoilt with roses and dinner at the Palace on Valentine's day, we are back to reality with lots packing and moving boxes. The weather has been very very rainy since Monday afternoon and it feels like winter! We've had 17mm already today! All of our big furniture is being moved on Saturday thanks to our friends :) Now if only this rain will stop in time...
On Sunday night we are doing How to Host a Murder - The Good, the Bad and the Guilty, at church with our young adults. We are all getting into the spirit of the Wild West theme and Kristen and I have painted 3 big panels to help with the theming and no doubt I'll upload some photos after the event.

2008 so far

We were blessed to be able to have John and Caitlin over for a week in January. Thankfully we caught the train and weren't affected by the big fire, apart from having to have Red Rooster for dinner as the shelves were empty at Coles! We saw the sights of the town (that weren't closed for the holidays!) including Grandma Kerr and Great-grandma Okely's homes. We ripped up the carpet in the new house and washed all the ceilings and walls with sugar soap.

Then came the painting, we've been at it off and on for about a month now, but the end is well and truly in sight, and the house is looking gorgeous!

Lauren can to visit at the end of January and successfully panned for gold at the Hall of Fame and we appreciated her help with the painting. We took the train back to Perth to pick up our long lost Camry from Merredin and drove to Perth for Nathan and Anita's wedding.

February has started well - we just got an offer on our first home, we are just praying it all goes smoothly.

Merry Christmas

clip_image002[4]

Just writing to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

We had our cousin’s wedding in Perth at the end of November, Phill’s management training sent us to Perth  last week and we are back for Christmas so we’ve been travelling a lot lately.

We hope you are all doing well and we look forward to seeing you or hearing from you in 2008!

With love from Phill and Melissa
