Card-a-palooza

Taking a break from December Daily to share a little card making.

This year I’ve loved following Kristina Werner and I love her style – hence the glittered dashed lines and rounded corners below.

Over the past couple of months I’ve made about 170 Christmas card kits (about 70 cards), 10 or so birthday cards and then at craft group I put together 6 baby congratulation cards.

December Daily: Day 1

Traditions: Putting up the tree and nativity scene was the highlights of the day for Emily. Edward's not yet seen the tree but he was amazed by the baby's first Christmas stocking on his door handle.

Aah Christmas! Welcome!

LOAD 212: Progress!

Past Perfect: Layout a Day February 2012
I just wanted to share with you some of the layouts I've been creating this month as part of LOAD 212.

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

In the last 10 days I've mostly just scraped in with my layout going up around midnight PST, but I'm thrilled I'm keeping up. I've attempted to finish a few different projects I'm working on and have settled on finishing my December Daily for 2011.
I've used my Simple Template Album set nearly every day! I'm loving how quickly my December Daily album is coming together by using the templates and a small range of kits, including those from Flergs and Karen Lewis Designz - past class sponsors for my Perth Scrapbooking classes. Plus I've dipped into my Digi Files stash

How's your scrapping going?

On the twelfth day of Christmas

20120107 Christmas Decorations 02

Well it’s the 13th day of Christmas I guess and the tree is down…

Emily and Daddy went to Carbatec and Bunnings

We got our new Robomaid up and running (Oh the pain of waiting 12hrs while it charged before trying it!)

Emily didn’t seem too upset about the tree being down, as we had pre-warned her for a few days. She really enjoyed helping put the decorations in their boxes.

Christmas in July: Sneak Peek

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA I'm currently planning an awesome crafty event in Perth to help us all get a head start on Christmas.

We’ll spend a couple of hours getting a head start on any Christmas Crafting projects (cards/decorations/etc) that usually get buried during the Christmas Season.
Bring along your half finished Christmassy projects (I've got an advent calendar to complete) and enjoy an hour or two of crafting with friends.
SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA I’ll be providing come Christmas treats, and a goodie bag with all you need to create a couple of fun Christmas cards in just a few minutes!
We'll have sewing, calligraphy, and papercrafting set up, plus some inspirational magazines and completed projects. I’ll have some tools and supplies on hand for paper crafting, but feel free to bring along your supplies and tools.
Not feeling Christmassy yet? Then you are welcome to bring along anything crafty, such as your latest sewing project, UFOs (unfinished objects), scrapbook pages etc to work on.
And what if you are a digital scrapbooker? You can bring along your laptop and play too!
For more info, check out the facebook event here: Christmas in July Crafting Party

December Daily complete!

Image representing Shutterfly as depicted in C...
Image via CrunchBase
After a few hectic days and nights with Phill returning from Argentina and Emily being sick I can finally let you all know I’ve completed and ordered my 2010 December Daily book.
I completed 17 pages to complete my book in less than a week, using my notes in my Memory Logbook and blog to fill in the details. I even did 6 pages one day! Lain Ehmann would be proud! Go ME!
I used a limited range of supplies and a template/base page design, and if I came up with a page I loved, I just rotated or altered it and reused it. I didn’t do a page for everyday and I did more than 1 page for some days. I’m thrilled with the result and can’t wait for Shutterfly to post it out to me!

If you like how I put together my book – I was inspired by Katie’s post at the Daily DigiHow to Narrow it Down with Thin Slicing and Noell’s article – How to Get More Impact with Less Effort.
For the actual conversion of 12x12 layouts to 8x8 Shutterfly book and to create the cover I used Wendyzine’s Shutterfly Toolkit: 8x8 version 2.0. To split my two page spreads I used her Action: Crop it.
Shutterfly Toolkit: 8x8 v2.0
ACTION: Crop It
I did have grand plans to put together my 2009 book at the same time, as I’ve got the photos and journalling done. But that didn’t happen. Not to worry! I’ve got the paper version from my Holidays in Hand class so it can wait. Or just be in paper form for good.
I’d love you to link me up to your December Daily or other project that you are proud to have completed!
Keep visiting my blog because I’ll be sharing a little more about my book and how I can help you create your own soon.

December Daily–25 December 2010

I am so excited that I’m making progress on this album, I was feeling a little intimidated by scrapping Christmas day (which is silly really – there’s no reason to be!). I’ve still got several days to scrap, here’s hoping I can get them done soon.

Christmas Day

Emily on Christmas morningToday Emily slept in until 8am, and then we opened up her stocking presents (that arrived in a red sack complete with Dora in her lovely Spanish costume). The broom and bubble mixture were definite favourites, and of course she couldn’t wait to try on the clothes she received. She seemed keen to play with the things she opened rather than move on to the next present.
Grandma and Grandad S went off to church and Emily had a sleep. Meanwhile Phill and I worked on opening up our stocking gifts. As usual it was filled to overflowing with the traditional novelties, breakfast cereals, chocolates (this year I ate my first marshmallow santa), several pairs of undies (a Shanhun tradition!), tshirts, stationery and other goodies all wrapped individually!
I love this photo! Mum S loves Tetris, much to Dad's dismay! After church, Steve, Phill, Mum, Dad and I all opened our presents. Mum got a Wii Tetris game much to Dad’s dismay! Emily woke with a start, and we gave her a little snack before she opened her pressie from Elizabeth, a little letter box which she loved.
We were just on our way out when Les, Woo and Stan arrived for lunch (Along with the dogs Ali-May and Asha).
Phill, Emily and I headed up to lunch with Mum and Dad O, Michael, Lauren, John and Caitlin. We had a traditional Grandma Kerr style roast sausagemeat with all the yummy vegies.
2010 12 25_Christmas 2010_0125After lunch we exchanged gifts. Emily loved her little book and Jemima doll (the Playschool doll – but dressed as a ballerina!). Well, she loved all her pressies, but I think these were her favourites. This year Mum also had a stocking for us (my felt stocking filled by Father Christmas each year to open before brekkie. This year she included some glow in the dark West Coast Eagles baubles for Phill, a snow globe for Emily and some gorgeous, more traditional baubles for me.
After our gift exchange some of us had a nap, while the others played Cait’s new cheerleading game for the Wii and had Christmas pudding with custard. This reminded me of 2006 when we spotted something odd about the custard packaging! (compare the 2 below)

Emily shows off her new backpack to AshaAfter Emily woke up we headed back home to Foss St for the gift exchange with Mum and Dad S, Steve, Les, Woo and Stan. After a few more presents, Emily was quite tired. She seemed intent on getting into the Little People Animalville Schoolhouse herself! So we decided it was time for bed and would open the presents another day, when she was a little less tired.
All in all it was a enjoyable, if hot (38degrees) Christmas day.
How was your Christmas?

Christmas Eve

2010 12 24_Christmas Eve_0001We enjoyed a hot Christmas Eve mostly at home, all the presents were wrapped and ready over the weekend, so I even had some time to scrapbook!

Phill’s friend Ryan came past and agreed to lend us his trailer and cement mixer for our retaining wall project, and told us it should be done in 1/2 a day! We’ll see how we go with that.

Emily was dry all day and was keen to use the potty when reminded (she’s toilet training at the moment).

2010 12 24_Christmas Eve_00062010 12 24_Christmas Eve_0009

We went up to Whitford Church for their 6pm Christmas Eve service. Once again the music was a highlight, but unfortunately Emily hadn’t eaten her dinner and we  couldn’t convince her to eat her snacks so she wasn’t the happiest for the service.

2010 12 24_Christmas Eve_0014We decided to go past our new home and stopped for some Red Rooster on the way. Phill decided that we should have a picnic in our new home, which turned out to be a fun idea! It was very pleasant with the sea breeze in.

We got home around 8:30 and all 3 of us headed to bed in preparation for Christmas day.

What’s on your wishlist?

I was inspired by all of the wishlist posts going around to blog mine!

I’m a big fan of anything Jamiroquai!
or Brooke Fraser

or Hillsong for that matter
Hillsong Chapel - Yahweh
Izzy of IzzyVideo has got me convinced that I need an Ipad – listen to any episode of the Paperclipping Roundtable or Digishow and you’ll here all about it! An engraved one with my name on it would be nice!
Sopia, you're the best present I could ask for.
Oh and I really need a new phone too, I can’t work out if I want to go with an iPhone or Windows 7 phone. On the up side, I will be going back to my O2 Atom Exec once Phill’s new phone arrives. So I’ll go from a 10year old phone to a 5year old phone at least.
I’ve already won the Log Your Memory January-June logbook so that’s one ticked off the list!

I’d love a Paperclipping Membership!
Paperclipping Home
Ella Publishing ebooks, any of them really, but this one caught my eye.
Double-Page Design: Creating two-page layouts that really shine by Write.Click.Scrapbook.
Oh and at the moment they have an offer going on!
Have you saved $12 on Ella eBooks yet this holiday season? Use coupon code 12DAYS to save $2 off of any single eBook. You may use this code six times (on six separate purchases) between today and December 23rd, for a total of $12 of holiday savings! Shop now.
Pretty much any of the gorgeous digiscrap kits from Flergs!http://flergalicious.com/NewsDec11/POENewsKit.jpghttp://flergalicious.com/Nov262010/Berrylicious600New.jpg

Umm, did I forget to mention our dearly departed camera... Kodak Easyshare Z650

Perhaps Father Christmas can give me this one as a replacement!

I’d also love a shopping outing with my sisters (one of my SILs is a big after-Christmas sale shopper) for a much needed wardrobe refresh, so a Coles Myer Gift card would be high on the list too.
Most of all I’m hoping for a 2011 filled with peace, health and happiness for my family and my family!
God bless you all this Christmas
Melissa
PS I’ll be back with a new December Daily page soon!
