December Down Under Complete: Day 21-January 1 2013

Long time no see?

I've been busy finishing off my December Daily, while handling a technology tsunami which involved a new pc, two new routers, a printer, a scanner, a network hard drive, usb ports and a webcam!

All of the pages are now done and in the album! YAY!

Thankful for Projects

I am loving this series, and over the past few years have found great joy in becomine part of a bigger community celebrating life together.

In the past couple of years Facebook Lovebook, One Little Word, Yesterday and Today, Week in the Life, Take 12 and various other projects that get me thinking and documenting our lives. It gives me a change to look on the bright side when things get overwhelming… like yesterday!

I didn’t manage to Take 12 photos this month, but I got several pics in there! Smile

Here’s my Take 12 images so far this year…

Day 4: Lest We Forget #weekinthelife

Today was ANZAC Day, remembering those who have fought for our freedom and those who continue to do so.

We spent the early hours of the morning caring for our little girl who has come down with another cold (she eventually slept from about 4pm-2am, then 2:30-7:30am).

She’d emptied out the whole tissue box into her bed and was just happy to have some cereal and go back to bed at 2am. Mummy joined her for yoghurt and headed back to bed again too.

In the morning we left Daddy to sleep in and I did a bit of admin tidy-up for The Fathering Project and Fresh Styles. I’m trying to finish up all my work before baby number 2 arrives.

We then headed to Neil Hawkins Park with our lifegroup. Emily was thrilled that all her friends were there.

20120425 Neil Hawkins ANZAC day 76-7

It was a lovely picnic, but I was wishing I still had cooler maternity clothes that actually fit! Only just over a week to go, so never mind! Thankfully none of us got sunburnt and Phill was finally able to pull out the Coke cricket bat and ball he’s be waiting to use (oh and they men kicked the footy as well).

20120425 Neil Hawkins ANZAC day 76-11

After a bit more work, I had a sleep and woke to find Phill and Steve had put together our newly repaired trampoline! (Thanks Mum!).20120425 Week in the Life 77-6

We finished the night with Phill’s home made pizza and Liz’s choc brownies. Phill even said he didn’t mind being in Week in the Life when the pizza looked this good!20120425 Week in the Life 77-5

After showing Steve Phill’s China trip pictures and moving a bit of furniture ready for the new baby, it was time to say goodnight.20120425 Week in the Life 77-8

I actually got a full night’s sleep on Wednesday night (well I only got up 3 times and went straight back to sleep).

My week so far…

Week in the Life Day 3

Today was a tough one for me with little sleep last night (maybe I was hungry? I eventually got myself some yoghurt at 4:30 and back to sleep!), blood glucose monitoring, lots of washing, Emily coming down with another cold and an appointment with a new obstetrician (while my GP/Obs is away for the next 2 weeks). On the plus side, the baby’s head is engaged and my longitudinal blood sugars came back at 5.2 which is totally fine.

I’m cooking a roast for tea, so I hope that I’ll feel better with a full tummy tonight!

But on the other hand, I’m thankful for only a tiny reaction to the flu immunisation I had on Friday, a day with Phill at home tomorrow for ANZAC day and Mum who was able to come and mind Emily while I saw the Doctor (oh and help me change my sewing machine needle, cut pumpkin and replace the elastic in the bassinet cover – love you Mum!)

Week in the Life Day 1 & 2 iPhone Photos

Just a quick post today to share my iPhone photos from day one and two (Sunday and Monday my time). Some of these will be culled - some were taken by me and some by Emily.
I've not got the photos off my 'big camera' yet and I also want to grab some of my screenshots of computer work I did today.
I like to start on Sunday and get a jump start on the week!

Week in the Life Tips

Over at Digital Scrapbooking HQ I’ve put together some tips for Week in the Life, along with my plan on how I’m tackling it.

Ali Edwards’ Week in the Life always seems to come at a busy time for me. But then I think, why not document that too?

I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and would love to document this upcoming week, the last of our family of three. Last year I completed my Week in the Life on my personal blog but never got the album made. I am happy to say that I’ve got all the documentation and photos stored and ready for when I do want to scrap it though!

I’m thinking of using simple photo collage pages along with written notes and memorabilia.

Read on…

Here’s a little recap of my photos from last year’s WITL.

Welcome to to my stop on the One Little Word blog hop for February. If you’ve come from Jen’s blog, welcome! The full list of blogs is at the end of this post.

The Prompt

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA We were all encouraged to take action on our words this month.

I have absolutely taken lots of action on my Focus areas:

  • Eating more healthily (which was a priority last year too!)
  • Making my afternoon rest a priority
  • Involving Emily in my daily activities
  • Spending our evenings together
  • Getting my business commitments done this month to allow more time to prepare for Baby number two!

This month has involved a lot more teaching and online Scrapbooking classes than normal, so I know for the month ahead my focus will move more only our growing family especially as Phill has a trip away coming up.

I have loved looking back at my OLW album from April, especially my note to self if quite poignant one year on – so I can’t wait to get going on April’s prompt!

After completing a hybrid album last year, I’ve decided to stick to my usual digital pages this year. I just love the slim finish of photobooks, so I’ll just print my book out as a soft cover photobook at the end of the year.

In the mean time I’m using this page as my January cover and photo of myself.
To keep it in plain view, I’ve also made this page my desktop background.

    What about 2012?

My word for 2012 will be Focus.

I’m easily distracted (Phill would say that’s an understatement) and with another addition to the family on the way in May, I feel like this an aspect of my life to work on.

    December Daily 2011

My 2011 December Daily Foundation pages

I was so thrilled to complete my 2010 December Daily that I turned the design into foundation pages (digital templates) for 2011. I've not yet chosen the kit I'll use along with the pages, but I have a couple of weeks to get that sorted out! I'm also thinking I won't pre-number the pages, but rather select the page with the best number of photos for each day.

    2010 December Daily

In February 2011, I ordered my finished 2010 December Daily book. I used a limited range of supplies and a template/base page design, and if I came up with a page I loved, I just rotated or altered it and reused it. I didn’t do a page for every day and I did more than one page for some days. I’m was thrilled with the result!

    What I learnt in 2009 and 2010

In 2009 year I faithfully recorded all the details of our December on the sheets that Jessica Sprague provided in her Holidays in Hand class. This is as far as I got with the scrapping though!
I did have grand plans to put together my 2009 book at the same time as my 2010 book, as I’ve got the photos and journalling done. But that didn’t happen. Not to worry! I’ve got the paper version from my Holidays in Hand class so it can wait. Or just be in paper form for good.

    Foundation pages for you

I was so inspired by the whole process that I put together a template album pack so that I can share the page designs with you! I've even coloured the layers in the templates for inspiration!

Want to get a head start on your December Daily?

    • Do you feel overwhelmed at the thought of creating a whole album?
    • Do you want to create photo-centric layouts without the fuss of lots of layering?
    • Are you new to digital scrapbooking and ready to start creating pages?
I've created just what you need!

August’s prompt was to take a photo of yourself and add some affirming words. To simply take a breath.
I’ve taken an video of my book to date – it’s coming along well! You can see I used the picture above along with some patterned paper and affirming words.
