My post made number 5 at Frugal Dad!

I was reading Katie the Scrapbook Lady’s blog and saw that she was number 8 on Frugal Dad’s Top Scrapbooking Sites list. So I headed over to

My Happy Scrapbookers post is the one featured for Ellla's Daily Trumpet blog! How exciting!

The Daily Trumpet came in at number 5, so I like to think my work helped in some small way.

Check out the list here:

Katie's Roundup Class!

I was so excited to see Katie's new class Roundup Your Memories over at Big Picture Classes.

I took Katie’s Powerscrapping workshop and I can tell you she is an awesome teacher!

Here's some details about the class from Big Picture Classes:

Roundup Your Memories
You are constantly making memories. Now’s the time to learn how to round them up and turn them into keepsakes! The really important memories in our lives are often a culmination of the small, everyday routines and events that shape our daily life. This two-week workshop will teach you to document and use your experiences to create unique and meaningful journals, blog entries and scrapbook projects.
Katie (also known as “Katie the Scrapbook Lady”) is the creator of scrapbookladypages.com, a contributing writer atThe Daily Digi, and the co-host of The Digi Show podcast. She has been a scrapbooker since 1983 and a digital scrapbooker and blogger since 2005. She has been published in Memory Makers Magazine and several Memory Makers books, as well as in Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.
You will learn about Katie’s monthly blog roundup tool, and ten other different types of roundup-based inspiration to use for your own projects. Each week of the workshop comes with a video presentation, PDF handouts, a forum for questions and answers, and a live chat with Katie. As an added bonus, you will receive printable checklists, idea sheets, and free downloadable templates to help you with your own roundups.
NOTE FROM KATIE:
I started my well-known monthly roundup exercise on my blog back in January of 2006 and I haven’t missed a roundup in over 70 months! Even if you are one of my loyal roundup followers, this workshop will give you the opportunity to fully explore the roundup process, learn my best tips and tricks, and find brand NEW ways to roundup your own memories. Whether or not you’ve ever tried a roundup, you will be inspired by hundreds of scrapbooking ideas in this two-week workshop with me

Hop over and check out Katie's class!

Powerscrapping my birthday

I got my hands on a awesome freebie from Flergs – Dreaming of Spring via her newsletter and I just knew it would match the yellow and pink outfits I wore on my birthday.
Dreaming of Spring: THE KITThe main kit this freebie coordinates with is Dreaming of Spring

I based my two pages on one of Jen Lindsay’s templates from The Digi Game and added a few more photo spots to the right hand page.

To the technique I used to get the new photos to match the others - see my video tutorial on Copying layer styles.
Flairy Floss: BUNDLEI created the stitching by using an alpha tie from Flairy Floss by Flergs. Can you tell I love her stuff?
I just recoloured a stitched leaf to match and copied in my OhLife journal entry for the 7th of April.
It was so good to have my journal entry as it made step four of the Powerscrapping easy! Thanks Katie for the awesome workshop.

Power scrapping with Katie: my work in progress

I’m working along with Katie in her workshop over at Big Picture Classes. It’s all about using your time effectively to make more scrapbook pages, you can read more about Power Scrapping here.
So far I have a few sets of photos together for layouts I’m working on:

My 29th Birthday

I’ll turn this on into 2 pages for this I think, it was an eventful birthday.

Emily’s words

This is actually a few more pages album that is already 1/2 done, I just have to add embellishments to most of the pages

Emily’s 2nd birthday (still rounding up a few more photos for that one from other camera)
I just starred some photos I liked:
Selecting Photos to use
As I see more photos I want to scrap I’m adding them to new albums in Picasa, so then I can come back to them later, and concentrate on the pages I’m ready to scrap right now.
I’m just about ready to layout the photos and then I get to start adding digital goodies – and I know a lot of them will be coming from the Digi Game (which really is the best deal in digital scrapbooking!)

Want to see my progress in the other classes I’m working on over at Big Picture? Here’s a sampling:
I’m enjoying blogging about these classes – it helps me remember to actually make the pages too! Do you have system to remind you of classes that you are yet to complete?

December Daily complete!

Image representing Shutterfly as depicted in C...

After a few hectic days and nights with Phill returning from Argentina and Emily being sick I can finally let you all know I’ve completed and ordered my 2010 December Daily book.
I completed 17 pages to complete my book in less than a week, using my notes in my Memory Logbook and blog to fill in the details. I even did 6 pages one day! Lain Ehmann would be proud! Go ME!
I used a limited range of supplies and a template/base page design, and if I came up with a page I loved, I just rotated or altered it and reused it. I didn’t do a page for everyday and I did more than 1 page for some days. I’m thrilled with the result and can’t wait for Shutterfly to post it out to me!

If you like how I put together my book – I was inspired by Katie’s post at the Daily DigiHow to Narrow it Down with Thin Slicing and Noell’s article – How to Get More Impact with Less Effort.
For the actual conversion of 12x12 layouts to 8x8 Shutterfly book and to create the cover I used Wendyzine’s Shutterfly Toolkit: 8x8 version 2.0. To split my two page spreads I used her Action: Crop it.

ACTION: Crop It
I did have grand plans to put together my 2009 book at the same time, as I’ve got the photos and journalling done. But that didn’t happen. Not to worry! I’ve got the paper version from my Holidays in Hand class so it can wait. Or just be in paper form for good.
I’d love you to link me up to your December Daily or other project that you are proud to have completed!
Keep visiting my blog because I’ll be sharing a little more about my book and how I can help you create your own soon.
