Traditions: Opening the advent calendar.
Craft: More pictures on the Advent calendar!
Eating: Shepherd’s pie (well more like savoury mince pie…)
Brilliant Idea of the Day: FIlling up the other half of the sandpit shell with water. I know, how smart am I? lol
20111205 Paddling Pool 03
Realising: Emily totally loved the paddling pool! Love that we have some shade for her to play outside.
Sleeping: Another big sleep today, woke up hot to discover the power went out and the air con of course wasn’t on. About 3:30pm it came on again.
Listening: “What up, What up I'm a Youtube star. I said what Spot says, Mummy.” “Mummy it’s Angelina, come and watch.” “Eloise has a pool, now I have my own pool!”

December Daily: Day 4

Template

This year I am so excited to spend our first Christmas at home. Just us three in our own home getting to open up our presents. We’ll head off and visit our families too, but then we can head home when Emily is tired.
We love spending time with the rellies, but this year feels like our first real family Christmas!

Traditions: 2nd attempt at family photo for our Christmas cards. Church this morning – seeing lots of familiar faces around. Emily is thrilled to play with her friends. This week when I left she was playing with Eden C and Evie M and the Little People Farm (complete with alpaca).

20111204 Family Portrait 07Giving: Some things for the food hampers, food and gifts for the local people Whitford Care supports.

Singing: Away in a Manger (Emily is learning it at church)

Homemaking: Phill put up a marquee for his party (6x6m all by himself!). It looks awesome! Here’s hoping it survives the storms we are supposed to be getting.20111204 Gazebo 07

Watching: Miss Marple while folding washing!

Buying: Some more groceries as Coles is open on Sundays. Seems we are stocking up the pantry!

Playing: Emily walking around in the Christmas stockings! Too cute, but she won’t be doing it again.

Eating: Hungry Jacks for tea – I couldn’t resist as we had a 2 for 1 voucher and there’s HJs at Joondalup. Emily kindly shared her chips with us! Smile How cute they are putting them in boxes now. Though there’s a bit of a debate about it since you can’t eat and drive anymore!

Oh and Emily was so so excited to get the little bubble blowing Occy the Octopus – maybe she’ll be saying C soon!

Realising: How little cash I carry when the EFTPOS is down at Woolies. On a hot day (at 18 weeks pregnant too) I decided paid the $1.50 to withdraw money at NAB, rather than walk around to Westpac with Emily.

How is your month travellling so far?

December Daily: Day 2

Template

Emily you are so adorable! It is so sweet to hear you call out to any visitors we have to see out Christmas trees. You even put the baby’s stocking on the door handle of the baby’s room.

You are starting to learn the Christmas story through the nativity scene and the advent calendar. You told me your favourite is Baby Jesus.

We love seeing you so excited to dance to the Christmas music you hear and we love you!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: December Daily 1

Template

I was excited that the Brisbane Test Match against New Zealand was on - that way we were able to put out some decorations while listening to the cricket. Such a tradition for the Okelys. This year’s new decoration was opened just before 7am - a Fisher Price Little People Nativity Scene, complete with ‘toothfairy’ ‘butterfly’ (angel) and ‘alpaca’ (camel). We put up the wooden and advent trees while waiting for Daddy to get home. We put up the big Christmas Tree with Grandma and Grandad S. after tea.

Making Headbands with Felt Embellishments

I saw some adorable Dear Lizzy felt details (Chatter Line) and thought they’d be perfect for Emily’s hair.

So I:

1. Got some soft elastic and felt offcuts (thanks Mum!)

2. Tied the elastic to test what length to cut

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA3. Cut 4 pieces of elastic

4. Cut 4 pieces of white felt

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA5. Pulled off the pop dot

6. Glued the elastic and felt onto the undeside with hot glue

That’s it! Simple as can be!

5 minutes later (once they cooled) – Emily was excited to show them off!

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERAA perfect way to keep those wispy curls out of the eyes!

Add An Attitude of Gratitude to Your Scrapbook | Log Your Memory

Add An Attitude of Gratitude to Your Scrapbook | Log Your Memory:

As the weather is warming up here in Australia, I was mulling over this week’s challenge to document something I’d taken for granted. I wondered if I would miss the scorching hot summers of Kalgoorlie, where we had lived for the last few years.

The nearest beach is 380 kms away, it gets to be scorching hot (high 40s Celsius) in summer for weeks at a time and rains about one third of the amount we get in Perth (which by the way, is a pretty dry city!). Thinking more about it, I realized I’d really enjoyed the weather we had in Kalgoorlie – in winter especially.

My page this week reflects the the beauty of the winter days in Kalgoorlie.
